Transition - a term we'll all hear more often. Transition means anticipating the end of unsustainably cheap energy and at the same time preparing for further climate change. It means embracing these developments - not denying them - and using them to develop a more localised, more resilient community.
TRY was launched in November 2009. A month later the group succeeded in having Richmond officially recognised as a Transition Town. Sometimes we call our group Transition Richmond; sometimes Transition Richmond Yorkshire. But that's a bit of a mouthful, so mostly we call ourselves TRY. A good name, which pretty much sums up our philosophy.
Our first few months have been used to build our mailing list and make ourselves known. We've screened films on climate change and the transition movement, and started a series of TRY Talks. Now we plan a range of interest groups in food growing, transport, energy, education and the arts. We've started with food growing. To find out more, follow the Food-growing forum link on the left.
To join our mailing list and be informed of transition-related events in or near Richmond, click here. We send a newsletter about once a month. And we promise not to pester you or pass your name to any other organisation.
Better still, don't just read our news - contribute!
